A Few Closing Thoughts . . .

Even though China sent me home with a little bug, I'm still happy about everything I did and saw. As much as I would like Drew at arm's length at any given moment (I kinda like that kid), I see how happy he is there, and I have to be happy for him. Ultimately, this is not an adventure to be undertaken lightly. It's a lot of work and travel and cultural confusion. Worth it? In my case, yes. I got to spend time with my children in an exotic location. Would I be there if they weren't? Well, you know me. All American girl. Happy at home. And, really, isn't home where we want to be happiest??

Packing . . . and saying goodbye.

I'm sure I'm taking way too much stuff, but, it's better to be prepared--right? I've talked to all my "people" today and will be saying my facebook goodbye. Actually, even though it's only 10 days, I think the extreme distance kind of magnifies everything.

I'm REALLY going to miss my dogs . . .

Oh, I will miss Brad (husband), too.

I'm picking Cara (my kids' bff and my travel companion) up at 7:30 tonight. We're staying at the airport hotel. Our flight leaves around 9;00 am. This way, we don't have to deal with traffic and such in the morning.

How many things can one person accomplish before flying to the other side of the planet in three days? I'll find out!
